The Sun

The sun is the center point and the center of gravity of our solar system, comprising over 99% of the visual matter. For a long time it has already been counted as a fixed star, while it is not really standing still.

On the one hand the complete solar system is moving relative to other solar systems within our galaxy. On the other hand the sun itself is spinning around a theoretical center of gravity. But this movement is of very small scale, since the center of gravity where the sun is spinning around is located steadily inside the sun itself.

It rotates in about 25 to 27 days around its own center – depending on the degree of latitude, since the visible part of the sun behaves like a liquid, having a slightly different speed depending on the parallel. Considering the sunspots a cycle of 22 years can be observed. Every 11 years an increased activity of sunspots can be identified, where the magnetic polarity is switching each time.

The sun is plainly seen as life-giving, since it supplies us with light, heat and energy. Accordingly it is influencing growth and harvest, and the weather as well. The strong magnetic field and the solar winds are causing polar lights near to the polar circles, but may also disturb radio traffic or even power supply. The sun is also reference and scale for our calendar, for specific holidays as harvest festival and Christmas for example, but also for special days as solstices and equinoxes.

There exists clearly an analogy to the organic heart, since the magnetic field of the sun is enclosing the complete solar system in the same way as the magnetic field of the human heart is enclosing the complete physical body. The sun supplies all planets with light and energy, and the heart supplies the body with oxygen and nutritive substances.

Both are the vital engine of a whole system. Accordingly not only the organic heart, but also the heart chakra is associated to the sun.

Considering recent mythology reveals that almost all high civilizations had personifications representing the sun. For example Ra, or Re in Egypt, Sol at the ancient mythology of the Roman, and Helios at the Greek mythology, to mention just a few.

Sunday is the weekday attributed to the sun. The name itself implies it already. But also the latin name indicates evidently the relation to the sun: Solid Dies (“Sol” means: the sun).

Alchemy, but also ancient and high civilizations as the Maya, Aztec, or Egyptian assigned the noble metal gold to the sun. Looking at photos of satellite remote sensing from the solar surface shows really an amazing optical similarity to liquid gold. But the background of this assignment is for sure different…

The seal of the sun is a magic square, that is mainly related to the numbers 6, 111, and 666. 6 is the edge length of the magic square, 111 is the sum of the lines, columns, and diagonals, and 666 the sum of all inserted numbers.

Astrology attributes Leo as sign of the zodiac to the sun, the fifth field (creativity), the matter of a ruler, and the nature of a constructive-masculine principle. It stands out that in most languages the sun has a masculine article, except the German language for example, where is has a feminine article. But this is rather an exception.

The following symptomatic attributes may be associated: activity, mental extension, radiation, protecting, consistency, consciousness, leading, self awareness, individuality, powerfull, creativity, life-giving, light, center point, day, father, to bring something to light, vital energy.
